How Often You Should Be Moving If You Sit All Day? It's not good news I'm afraid: Studies have shown that a sedentary lifestyle is linked to a higher risk of early death.

However, studies have also shown that people in sitting/sedentary office jobs who moved every 30 minutes, were less likely to have died than those whose sitting was more prolonged, even if the total hours of sitting time were the same. Which means the frequency of movement is as important as the duration.

To clarify, these breaks always consisted of more movement than just standing up or using standing desks (so walking to the kitchen to refill your water cup, for instance). The point? The study’s results suggest that moving around every 30 minutes could help you steer clear of some of the health problems that come with sitting all day. Suggestion. All you need to do is set your phone alarm, Apple Watch or Fitbit to alert yourself to get up and move every 30 minutes. Simples! We hope you find this useful!
